Can a tenant see what's in the report?+
Tenants know they're being screened and consent to sharing their data. They don't see the landlord-facing report — only you do. Under PIPEDA a tenant can request access to their personal data, and we encourage landlords to be transparent with applicants about what screening is used.
What if the tenant banks with a small credit union?+
Plaid supports over 12,000 financial institutions in Canada — virtually all major banks, online banks like EQ Bank and Tangerine, and hundreds of credit unions. If a tenant's institution isn't supported, statements can be uploaded as a fallback.
How is this legal under PIPEDA?+
Every tenant provides explicit, informed consent before connecting their bank or submitting ID. They see a clear notice explaining what data is collected, how it's used, who sees it, and how long it's retained — 90 days. Full policy at canadarentals.cc/privacy.
Does the tenant need to create an account?+

What happens to the tenant's bank credentials?+
